Since taking a more professional interest in nutrition I am constantly asked “what diet are you on?” “will you write me a diet?” etc.. 

I’m not on any diet and I don’t write diets. I have food choices that I make based on my goals and I write nutrition programmes/guidelines for people. 

Diet.. 

Definition (noun): The kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.

So what do you habitually eat? Honestly? What do you eat regularly? I don’t care what you eat but for the purpose of this be honest with yourself. Do you have take-away/fast food three times a week? Do you eat any fruit or veg? Do you drink coke in work everyday? How much bread do you eat?

Anyway..

The word diet is also used as a verb “I’m dieting at the moment”.

There is so much shit surrounding the word diet. I’ve mentioned this before in an earlier post but all you have to do is look at a magazine/newspaper shelf and diets are everywhere.

Summer diets, winter diets, wedding diets, beach diets, bikini diets, cabbage diets, juice diets and every other shitty type of diet in the world.

Why do people need to go on a diet? The majority would be to lose weight I’d say. 

If you are a person that goes on diets regularly you need to stop today. There are many issues with diets, it can mess up your metabolism, thyroid function, hormones, can create food addiction to poor foods, rebound weight, stress issues, mood swings, cravings… I could go on and on. 

We should not live like this, if you feel you are overweight then you need to find a suitable way to lose fat gradually and ensure it’s sustainable. If you feel like you need to  increase size then find a suitable way to do this and ensure it’s sustainable. 

But more importantly your well being, performance, attitude and energy are all related to food. If you do not feel good or you are sluggish or you experience stomach issues after a meal then you need to alter your food choices. It’s that simple. 

How old are you? What is your job? Do you feel good? Are you happy?

Why not make a positive change today and improve the way you eat. I can guarantee you will thank me for it one day.

Forget these diets, why would you not want to feel and look good all the time?
